My research career

Doctor from the University of Valladolid (1995). Associate Professor of Prehistory at the University of Valladolid (1998) and director of the Federico Wattenberg Center for Vaccean Studies (2001 to present), with five six-year research periods recognized.

My activity

His research focuses on the study of the Iron Age and in particular on the pre-Roman Vacceo people through the settlement of Pintia (Padilla de Duero/Peñafiel, Valladolid) where he has been carrying out his scientific activity for more than forty years. Studies on the Archaeology of Death, Gender and Childhood, Landscape, Wine in the Ribera del Duero, and other sectorial studies on the production of ceramics, weapons, or other elements of adornment and goldsmithing are spread over the 20 books he has authored/co-authored/edited, 120 book chapters and 50 journal articles. In 2007, he also created and has since directed the Vaccea publishing house, with various imprints: Vaccea Monografía, Vaccea La Otra Mirada and the journal Vaccea Anuario. He has signed 250 collaboration agreements with various public and private entities, especially in relation to research in the Pintia Archaeological Zone, a dozen of which are still in force. He has also curated 36 public archaeological exhibitions in various national and foreign venues.
